The Fun and Fit Physi kids Team Members

Kayleen Tolley

Instructor since 1997
Owner since 2003

Hello, my name is Kayleen Tolley and I have worked as a Physi kids Instructor since 1998.

I have a Diploma in Education and a background in athletics and child care. I have attained my Beginning Coaching Principles Certificate through the Australian Sports Commission, my Grass Roots License through the Australian Football Federation, and I have completed my Small Business Certificate. I attained my Level 1 Coaching Certificate through HockeyEd and my Level 1 Junior Coaching Certificate through AFL Queenlsand. I am currently studying a Certificate in Coaching through Health Academy Australia.

My job now is mostly managerial, as I run everything in the background from Physi kids Headquarters. I do occasionally need to relieve our Instructors during busy times!

My favourite day of the week is when I volunteer at ACT for Kids!

I have two sons – Liam has grown up and left home, and Jai is in high school.

Teesh Topine

I completed a Bachelor in Physical Education majoring in exercise prescription and management in 2008. I have also gained certificates in touch and badminton coaching.

In my homeland of New Zealand, I worked for Sport Otago providing physical activity advice and sessions to adults and children. I also worked as an Active Youth Co-ordinator for Tasman Regional Sports Trust, and as a sales consultant for Fitness First.

I have also completed my Beginning Coaching General Principals Certificate through the Australian Sports Commission.

I am a mother to two young children, Alani – who is in grade one, and Zane is at kindy.

I have attained my Certificate III in Fitness, and prior to that, I completed Childcare studies. I gained my Beginning Coaching General Principles Certificate through the Australian Sports Commission, my Level 1 Junior Coaching Certificate through AFL Queensland, and I am an accredited Foundation Touch Football Coach. Most recently I have become a qualified Pilates instructor.

Sport has always been a part of my life: netball, swimming, gymnastics, water polo, touch football to name a few but my latest passions are boxing and participating in obstacle course races such as Miss Muddy, The Stampede and Tough Mudder.

I have two sons; my eldest recently finished schooling and my youngest is in Grade 12.

Liam Tolley

Instructor from 2012 to 2017
Assistant Office Admin since 2021

I’m Kayleen’s eldest son, and I normally live in Sydney, as I am a Finance Business Partner at Qantas. My role at Qantas enables me to work from home whilst I assist Mum with running her business this year.

Before moving to Sydney, I spent my teen years working as a Physi kids kindergarten and party instructor.

I have played representative football, rugby league and rugby union, and enjoyed coaching under 16’s football.

Jai Tolley

Party Assistant since 2012

I am currently in grade 10 and my favourite subjects are Physical Education and Food Technology. I am considering joining the police force when I leave school.

I have played soccer since I was 5 years old, and continue to represent school in the First XI Football team.

I swam competitively for 7 years, reaching state level, but lost my passion for the pool, and switched it for basketball!

I have competed in the All Schools Aquathlon at State and National levels. A few years ago, my older brother also coached at Physi kids, and I would sometimes go along to work with him too.

Breana Carey

Instructor since 2013
Party Instructor

I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing at QUT, and still deciding the area I would like to specialise in.

I am working part time in disability support, gaining valuable skills and knowledge.

Previously I worked as a Touch Football Referee at Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association for three years, and also enjoyed playing touch myself.

I grew up next door to Physi kids headquarters and was occasionally invited by Kayleen to assist at Fitness Expos and major public events.

I think it’s pretty awesome that I get a chance to work here now.

Amie Ralph

Instructor since 2014

Level 5 Permanent Instructor
Brisbane’s South East

Kai is the absolute light of my life and I spent his first two years at home with him. He is now in primary school!

Prior to becoming a Mum, I worked at Redlands gymnastics in Cleveland, coaching all ages and stages, from 3 to 17 years, putting my gymnastics coaching certificate to good use.

I have also gained my Beginning Coaching General Principals Certificate through the Australian Sports Commission, and more recently gained my National Rugby League Coaching Certificate.

I love working with children, and have a great connection with them.

It is an awesome feeling to see them acquire new skills that you were responsible for introducing them to!

Melinda Beutel

Instructor since 2015

Level 4 Permanent Instructor
Brisbane's South East

I have a Certificate III and IV in Fitness and spent a few years running my own small personal training business from home. I also spent 5 years as a Child Care Centre Nominated Supervisor, and then Director in Sydney before having children of my own (now adults themselves).

I have a Certificate in Child Care Studies and my Level 1 Junior Coaching Certificate through AFL Queensland.

I can’t believe my luck in finding a position that combines my two passions, children and sport!

Christine Larsen

Instructor since 2016

Level 1 Instructor
Brisbane South Relief Instructor

Party Instructor

I am passionate about fitness, play and helping young people develop a lifelong love of movement.

I have spent many wonderful years working as a Flipside Circus Trainer with children aged 18 months to 18 years!

I have worked in school programs for Queensland Schools, and Outside of School Hours with Care Workshops, Corporate Workshops, Festival drop in workshops, and have delivered specialist programs for Educators.

I have completed my Certificate III and IV in Personal Training through FIAFitnation.

I get a big buzz out of helping others learn new skills and gain physical confidence!

Currently I am studying Primary Teaching externally.

Karen Vesovic

Instructor since 2017

Brisbane South Relief Instructor

I have been an Educator at Scallywags Child Care Centre in Mt Gravatt since 2006, putting my Diploma in Childcare to good use.

In 2014 I gained Water Safety and Infant Aquatic qualifications and began teaching ‘learn to swim’ on Saturday mornings. When the weather is warmer, I do like swimming myself.

My twins are currently mastering their bike riding skills, so this is a really fun time together.

They are now in primary school, and they loved participating in Physi kids classes when they were still at kindy!

It’s a privilege to be part of children’s lives as they learn and grow, and I enjoy taking a key role in that journey.

Kay Gray

Instructor since 2018

Level 2 Permanent Instructor
Brisbane South Instructor

I’m a certified Group Fitness Trainer and Personal Trainer Cert IV. I have been working in the Fitness Industry for 6 years.

I am also a mum of two children, Albie, now a high schooler, and Isla who is still in primary, so I know how important it is to keep fit and healthy from a young age.

I am passionate about assisting children feel strong and healthy through movement.

I like to encourage children to try new things in a fun and safe environment like Physi kids.

I also feel strongly about building children’s confidence through providing activities for them to conquer!

Working with children is very rewarding and I am always learning new things about them and myself.

I am now a mother of 2 children, Zoe, now in Prep & James my toddler.

I understand and value the huge impact we can have on a child’s confidence and well-being when we create a supportive environment.

In 2022 I will be completing my final year of high school. I’m pretty sure I want to work with children, but still undecided about the industry. Perhaps primary teaching, or nursing.

I have played soccer since I was 6 years old, and have coached the Under 6/7’s since 2020 at Clairvaux. I have represented Queensland in Futsal and was selected to play for Australia in Malaysia.

I have  grown up just down the road from Physi kids headquarters, and found it useful when younger to pop in and use their electric ball/bike tyre pump!

Kimmy May

Instructor since 2022

Brisbane Northside's Relief Instructor

I have a Diploma in Sport & Fitness Management, and my Certificate III & IV in Fitness, which compliments my work as a Group Fitness Instructor outside of Physi kids.

My other loves are music and dance, and I have won and placed in the World Salsa Competitions over the past few years. I also teach piano and the erhu, which is also known as a Southern Fiddle or the Chinese violin.

Prior to falling in love with fitness, I attained a Bachelor in Music from National Sun Bat-sen University in Taiwan.
